Correspondence, legal documents, and other material pertaining to litigation concerning properties of Countess Tadini. Persons represented in the case records include Clement March, Pierre Gabriel Oldofredi Tadini, Henry Carey Bankhead, Charles March Pyne, Nathan Chandler, and the children of Walter A.K. Craven (1836-1894). Countess Tadini owned land in South Carolina, including Hutchinson Island in Colleton County. Some of the records pertain to litigation before her death and the rest relate to estate claims and disputes. The case records include a letter (1888) from Countess Tadini to Charleston attorney H.E. Young, in which she describes conditions at Hutchinson Island Plantation before the arrival of Federal troops during the Civil War; letters from C.C. Rivers at Hutchinson Island to H.E. Young, one of which is a list of tenants on the plantation (1889); and a copy of the will (1855) of Mary Pyne Hutchinson March.
